get a PB, gain confidence, and speed up!


My fitness resolutions for 2012 are:



  • Run another Half Marathon and improve my time substantially!
  • Run 2012 miles!
  • Cycle 2012 miles!
  • Complete another Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge!
  • Complete another Three Counties Cycle Challenge and improve my time substantially!
  • Complete the Fred Whitton Four Seasons Cycle Challenge!
  • Finish Keswick to Barrow 40 mile walk in sub 9 hours!
  • Complete the Wainwright 's Fell Challenge!


I think that's enough to keep me out of mischief during 2012!  Watch this space to see how I get on...

Motivation - NOT!

I was feeling like I needed some sort of training plan for my next half marathon and so logged on to the ASICS webpage - BIG MISTAKE!!

I filled out the questionnaire appropriately and waited for a suitable plan to appear!  Instead I got the extremely demotivating comment that if I proceeded with this plan it would be to the detriment of my health!!  FFS I only said I wanted to complete a half marathon in 2 hours NOT a marathon!

I now think my dream 2 hours is out my reach ...!!!

Well its Christmas ... another drink ... another chocolate and I'll worry about it in 2012!!!

Update on my pose running technique!

I have been practising forefoot running for a couple of weeks now and it still doesn't come naturally!  I'm still unable to sustain it for the full duration of my longer runs as the top of my foot becomes very sore.  I'm sure this is just different muscles working and in time will adapt!  Unfortunately, I've been restricted to the amount of outdoor running I've been doing due to snow and ice, and have been staying safe on the treadmill.  However, once I get this technique perfected apparently ice will no longer be a problem to me!!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_pNb01YoSA
