Blip in my training - Oh Dear!
With less than 8 weeks to go until the Great North Run I'm not feeling as confident as I should! I went on my first run in 7 days today and only just managed a very slow 5 miles ...! My exercise regime came to a complete standstill when my daughter went into Manchester Children's Hospital for Posterior Spinal Fusion surgery. I went with the good intentions of keeping up my training, by taking my running gear with me, to the mortification of my daughter who claimed "Mum, why can't you be normal?!" However, with the stress of an 8 hour operation, sleepless nights sitting in the High Dependency Unit and surviving on junk food my priorities changed, and I didn't think of my training again... until I returned home yesterday with my daughter back on the mend! I got up this morning and decided to try a little introductory run - how can fitness take so long to achieve and such a short time to lose?! I struggled to maintain any pace at all - was it the heat, exhaustion from a stressful week or poor mental attitude?! Who knows but I WILL get back on track and be ready to do the best I can in September!
