Challenge 11 - Juneathon 2012

What is a Juneathon?
It's primarily a running challenge, but if you can't or don't want to run every day, you can still join in by cycling, walking, rowing, weights, swimming, building sandcastles or whatever. Just do something every day in June.

Then what?
Then blog about it on your blog within 24 hours.

Anything else?
Yes. Juneathon is a community thing and it'd be great if you could visit as many other blogs as you can and leave comments in support.

How long has it been going?
Juneathon has been going since 2007.

Towards the end of May I received an email inviting me to participate in Juneathon.  I had completed Janathon (Juneathon's baby brother!) and decided that Juneathon would be easier as the weather would be better, the days are longer AND there's one less day to suffer  endure in June! Before I had time to have any second thoughts I was signed up and ready to go!

It was a mistake to believe the weather would be better than in January - although we didn't have the snow we had then we did have rain (floods at times too!), wind and very chilly conditions! Not much difference in weather at all! However, the longer days made it easier to fit runs in and much safer for a lone female runner!

Out of the 30 days in June I managed to run for 25 days and cycled the remaining 5, as well as doing other activities too!  I had set myself a personal challenge to do at least 200 miles in total and I DID IT!

So how many miles did I do?

Running 123.0 miles
Swimming 1.9 miles
Biking  82.6 miles
Walking  33.2 miles
Rowing 5.6 miles
Pilates 3 hours
Steps 1 hour
Weights 30 minutes

Total Junathon 2012 miles = 246.30

42.5 hours exercise! (Average 1 hour 42 mins per day!)

Longest Run - 14.09 miles (Janathon 9.43 miles)
Shortest Run - 0.93 miles (Janathon 3.23 miles)

Fastest Average Pace - 8.39 min/mile (Janathon 9.05 min/mile)
Slowest Average Pace-10.06 min/mile(Janathon 10.25 min/mile)

Total Junathon 2012 miles = 246.30

versus
Total Janathon 2012 miles = 203.12

As you will notice from the stats above I have improved on my Janathon results quite considerably!

I can't wait for January 2013 to do it all again!

I entered a competition at the end of Juneathon. The challenge was  to make up a Haiku poem (The most common form for Haiku is three short lines. The first line usually contains five syllables, the second line seven  syllables, and the third line contains five syllables. Haiku doesn't rhyme. A Haiku must "paint" a mental image in the reader's mind) poetry!  The competition doesn't end until the 31st July so I don't know yet have I fared but I thought I would share my efforts with you here!

To succeed you must
jog, log don’t forget to blog
eat, sleep then repeat.

I did it in June 2012!
